How to clean your hair dryer

Here is a simple, step-by-step guide on how to safely clean your hair dryer and filter.

What You’ll Need

A small, dry brush (an old toothbrush works perfectly)
A clean, dry cloth or paper towel
A vacuum cleaner with a nozzle attachment (optional, but highly effective)

The Cleaning Process

Unplug the hair dryer
Allow the appliance to cool down fully before handling it.
Use a damp cloth, and cleaning spray if needed, to wipe down the outside of the hair dryer
Locate the vent, typically located at the back of the hair dryer, and twist off the cap as indicated. If you’re unsure how to remove the filter, consult your owner’s manual to avoid breaking the delicate plastic tabs.

Remove the filter and set it on a towel or paper towel.
Filter Cleaning: Brush away dust and lint from the filter with a cleaning toothbrush and wipe it off onto a towel or paper towel as you go. Try brushing back and forth or in small circles. Rinse the filter with clean water if needed. Air dry cap and filter until completely dry.
Dryer motor cleaning: Use your brush again, or a vacuum nozzle attachment, to carefully suck or brush away any remaining dust from the internal parts and motor fan, taking care not to push debris further inside.
Reassemble the filter and cap back onto your hair dryer.

Your hair dryer should now work as good as new!

How to store your hair dryer
