While you only need one, I admittedly have an unintended collection of scalp massagers. I HIGHLY recommend using one with your curly hair cleansing routine. In my video review, I discovered my favorites and have since found several more picks to share with you too!
What is a scalp massager?
A scalp massager is a small brush that fits in the palm of your hand. With plastic or silicone bristles, it is intended for use in the shower on wet hair. As with all brushes, scalp massagers have different features including handles and bristle types.
How to use a scalp massager
Begin by soaking your hair for 1-3 minutes before adding shampoo to cleanse. Once the shampoo has been distributed throughout your scalp, use your scalp massager in small back-and-forth movements. Avoid circle motions to prevent creating tangles in your hair.

Why you need a scalp massager
As we love exfoliating our skin with a washcloth or other products, our scalp also benefits with a little more than just our hands. And while there are lots of products for scalp detox and exfoliation, this one is the easiest to begin with!
Paired with your favorite cleanser or treatment, a scalp massager helps with a gentle but thorough cleaning.
Using a scalp brush just feels good, and it’s a massage after all. It keeps your scalp happy and your hair follicles happy for healthy hair growth too.
Benefits
Scalp Exfoliation
A scalp massager is a perfect addition to your hair and scalp detox and clarifying routine. The soft silicone bristles will gently exfoliate the scalp by removing dead skin cells, flaking, and product buildup. This reduces dandruff by revealing fresh skin.
Reduce Dandruff
The gentle exfoliation lifts and removes dandruff to unclog pores and reveal fresh skin.
Hair Growth
With a cleansed scalp and unclogged pores, hair follicles are primed for healthy hair growth.
