As my hair is longer now, my curls tend to stretch out, and I lose the big curls and volume that I love so much. Thankfully, there’s a rescue product to enhance your natural curls!
My underlayers always have a loose wave, sometimes, a barely there bend by the end of the day. Whereas my top layers have tighter curls, but can still loosen up if I don’t style for more lift.
Rest assured that it’s completely typical to have at least 3 different curl patterns on your head. You’re not alone there! It can be a challenge for styling, but once you know, you know.
To plump up my waves and curls all around, I use one of my favorite base layer products under my gel. Base layer products are my favorite way to customize my styling routine based on what my curls need that day. I shared what base layers I have been using lately and why in this post too.
Today, it’s all about the Jessicurl Rockin’ Ringlets. This flaxseed styling potion can be raked in on wet hair after a full cleanse and conditioning session. If you’ve never tried it, note that it’s a serum with a thin, liquid texture. Do shake the bottle first and add a quarter-size amount onto your palms before raking it in. For my medium-density hair, that’s just enough to coat all of my hair.

How to use it
Because it is so runny, I found that it works well as a gel mix-in too! To make this happy curls cocktail, I add my gel and some drops of Rockin’ Ringlets to my palm and emulsify it all before raking it into my hair.
Of course, it pairs perfectly with the Jessicurl Spiralicious gel, another fav, or with other gels too! It’s definitely a team player making it an easy addition to any styling routine lineup. Note that when used as a base layer or a mix-in, it’s just as effective either way.
Enhanced Curls
With this product, my hair is happily holding a tighter curl that doesn’t stretch out as easily. As finer hair tends to perk up with protein products, my finer-textured edges and underlayers love this routine. It definitely doesn’t change my curl pattern, but rather plumps it to its best shape. For the rest of my stronger hair strains, it helps to hold the curls in shape for more days too.
