Here it is! The day 4 hair reveal after my mini vacation wash day. I styled my hair as usual, but dried with a standard hair dryer, no diffuser! After faithfully using a diffuser to dry my curls from the very start of my curly hair journey, this was a brave task. This was definitely not a planned challenge as I didn’t pack a diffuser and a wash needed to happen anyway. Surprisingly, I’ve worn my hair down all these days! Here’s how it went.
To protect my curls each night, I slept with my hair clipped up. I’ve been using 1 or 2 of my everyday styling clips to keep my hair in a loose twist-up that keeps the curls intact. I usually do this sleeping hairstyle before washing my face at night anyway. Then, it stays up until I’ve finished my morning routine skin routine the next day.

For my morning hair routine this week, I’ve combed out my roots to bring back the volume. Next, I’ve been doing a damp curl-by-curl refresh where needed. This week, I also experimented with a new-to-me dry volumizing spray. I haven’t quite figured out how much I need to use, so I’ll report on that later. So far, I’ve only noticed a slight difference in added volume. I was hoping it would help to keep my curls from nesting into each other by the end of the day. I’ll try the spray again another time and likely pair it with a root volume spray for extra lift.

For now, I’m about to embark on this no-diffuser experiment at home. The major difference, of course, is that I’m no longer in California where the water quality was softer, the air temperature cooler, and the humidity level higher. I can’t wait to see what happens. Still, I’m also fully prepared to wear my hair up for the next 3 days if it doesn’t turn out well. Results to follow…
