Mother’s Day weekend was a fun unplanned mini vacation to the beach. We hopped around tide pools and soaked up the cool ocean breeze. Yes, our hair was up in buns by the end of the day, but we didn’t mind at all. Before our dinner out, we just did a simple water refresh and topped it with one of my favorite hairsprays for a more styled bun.
I had even forgotten to pack my silk pillowcase or hair buff and didn’t bother to pack the diffuser. Still, I decided to wash my hair on Sunday before heading home anyway. I had no idea how my hair would react. I just figured it might end up being in a bun all week after this, but at least my hair would be clean and I could relax when I got home.

I styled my hair as usual with an upright section styling routine. I then sprayed hairspray all throughout before drying. Using a standard hairdryer with low heat and low speed, I focused on drying the roots first by gently flipping my hair to get all around my scalp. When my roots were dry, I cupped the ends of my hair to dry them in a more coiled position.
These pics are my hair today and I’m gladly wearing it down. So, how in the world did my hair stay calm without a diffuser? Was it the soft water of CA? Was it the products? Do I not even need a diffuser after all? For now, I’m going to revel in this all week and wait to experiment on another wash day. Cheers!
