With a frizzy start, my curly hair which looked destined for a messy bun updo, ended up, surprisingly, as a pretty Half-Up Twist Hairstyle!

In this second episode of the Everyday Curls series, you’ll find a quick and simple tutorial on how to turn a frizzy hair day into a photo-worthy hairstyle.

Face-Framing Curls
I started this updo by pulling forward some face-framing curls. To create a graceful drop of curls on either side, I include curls from the top of the middle part, down to above the ears.
Frizzy as these curls may be at this start, I like to save the finishing touches until the very end.
Half-Up Twist
For the half-up hairstyle, I actually only pulled the top third of hair at the back
To create the twist, I separate this top section of hair into left and right sections. Next, cross over the two top sections at the back, and repeat.

Secure the twist with two bobby pins. With the first bobby pin at the middle of the twist and the second bobby pin just below it.
Insert the first bobby pin at the center of the twist, turn slightly in the opposite direction of the twist, then turn into the twist. In other words, straight in, turn to the left, then turn to the right and push it all the way into the twist.
Finishing Details
Finally, refresh any curls with water and extra product as needed. For tucking in flyaways, I love using one of my favorite hairsprays too.
