Celebrate your waves and curls this holiday season with this easy updo hairstyle and a little sparkle. No perfect curls are needed for this look so it’s a great one to style while traveling too!
What you will need:
1-2 Decorative hair pins, 3 Thin Ponytail Holders, 2-6 Bobby Pins, Flexible Hold Hairspray (optional)
The Tutorial: Double Bun Roll-Up
The Top Roll-up Bun
Begin by sectioning the top of your hair in a triangle shape. The widest part of the triangle will be at your forehead, and the tip of the triangle will be at the crown of your head. The shape of this section will help blend the parting line into the rest of the hairstyle.
Next, gather this section into a ponytail using a thin ponytail holder or hair elastic. Note that the positioning of this top bun is the key to this hairstyle. You’ll want to keep the bun high to see it from the front.
To complete this bun, hold the ends of your ponytail together and roll them up and under, creating a loose tube shape. Secure the bottom of the bun on both of the open sides with bobby pins. Of course, if any shorter curls need tucking in, feel free to use another bobby pin or two.
Pro Tip: A magnetic bracelet can hold your bobby pins on your wrist during styling!
The Lower Roll-up Bun
Gather up the rest of your hair into the second ponytail. Position it as close to the top bun as possible.
As the section of hair may be longer than the top section (if your hair is layered), also secure the ends of your ponytail with a thin elastic. This will help to keep your roll-up bun from unraveling. Roll up the ends of the ponytail up and under to create the bun. Pin down both of the open sides of the tube shape with bobby pins.
Adding holiday sparkle
Before adding any hair accessories, spray your hair with a flexible hold hairspray. This hairspray won’t damage your hair! Spray and rake in any flyaways with your fingers for a polished look. This will also give the hair some grip to keep your decorative hair pins from slipping.
Wishing you a Happy Holiday Season!
