I love seeing my pretty hair towel each wash day. It’s a welcome addition to all my basic bath towels with its cheerful pop of color in my otherwise neutral space. And yet, it’s not even a towel at all, but that’s exactly what makes it perfect for curly hair.

I found more of these beauties in all the latest colors and patterns this season. They make my wash day more enjoyable and I hope they will for you too!
Best of all, you can always find these in-store and online, though not in the bath towel section or the hair category at all!
What are they?
They are definitely not microfiber towels. Microfiber towels in general soak up too much water and cause frizz with those little microfibers. Instead, these beauties are super smooth cotton blankets of natural fibers, that gently soak up some water without disturbing your curls. My favorites are the 100% Cotton Muslin Swaddle Blankets from aden + anais aka my Curly Hair Towels. I love the fanciful colors and patterns to set the mood for my wash day.
Where to find them?
From Amazon, Nordstrom (and here too), and Target, these are my picks for prettiest curly hair towels this season. I love how the colors and patterns are thoughtfully designed for outside of the nursery as well. And as they are so pretty, they make lovely gifts too. You just might have some explaining to do… They really are the perfect material and in the perfect size for all your curly hair towel needs.

How to Use Curly Hair Towels
These ‘towels’ can be used in several different ways for drying and styling your curls. First, they are just the right size for dry plopping if you are into that. And what a pretty plop they make! I am more likely to do some micro-plopping, which is just pressing the towel into my curls to soak up some excess water. Most of the time, however, you’ll find me wearing a towel over my shoulders while I style my hair. I fold it in half at a diagonal and clip in it the front with a styling clip. And when I don’t plan on styling my hair right away, I can wrap my hair in a pretty turban with one of these too.
These towels are also thin and easy to pack which makes them great for your swim bag (as your hair towel) or for stuffing in that last corner of your travel suitcase too.
Easy Care
After each use, just hang these muslin cotton towels to dry. You can even reuse them multiple times before washing them. Washing is thankfully also without a fuss. Just normal machine washing in cold or warm water and tumble drying on a low heat setting will do.

Most of the time you’ll see these sold in packs of three or four, but you can also find some singles from Target HERE too!
