After some experimenting, I have a new curly hair product combo for Spring that I can’t wait to tell you about! The past winter was unseasonably dry, so I’ve made a few tweaks to my routine while keeping some long-time favorite products too.

The Base Layer
For a base layer, I’ve been using my go-to lightweight leave-in conditioner to help my hair hold in hydration from wash day.
So after I rinse out my regular conditioner, I rake in a blueberry-sized amount of the leave-in onto my hair. It really helps to hold in hydration during styling and over the next few days.
The Holding Product
I’ve been using a new-to-me gel this season that has quickly become a new favorite. It’s already a curl community favorite, and for good reason. The light and smooth consistency is easy to use, and results in a great hold that’s still soft to the touch.

To apply the gel, start with wet hair. Add a small dab of gel on the palm of your hand and emulsify with wet hands before smoothing over each section of hair. For super smooth results, use a styling brush too!
The results are surprisingly soft curls without a crunch. It gives that ‘natural’ look without the glossy finish.
I’ve received so many compliments on how my curls have beautiful volume without the frizz!
The Finishing Product
Because there is no crunch, I’ve found my curls do need touch-ups the next day. So to preserve the curls for a few more days, I’ve tried adding one of my favorite hairsprays with great results.
